Wedding!

On Saturday we went to our friend Lindsay's wedding and it was fantastic! First of all, her dress was to die for - it had YELLOW in it (well, probably it would qualify as gold, but whatever color it was, it looked gorgeous)! I wish I had a picture of the back - it was laced down the back corset-style with a wide yellow/gold ribbon. Amazing! He wore red Converse All Stars (very cool) and their wedding favors were jars of home-made salsa. You can't get much better than that. They are such a great couple and we're so happy we got to celebrate their marriage with them.

Of course, the reception was a blast. It doesn't take much to entertain Brett and I, and this went over the top. This was the first wedding reception I've ever been to where they had a cigar area for the men (I'm sure women could have gone too, but none did), complete with boxes of cigars. We danced for hours with all of our friends ... a pretty wonderful evening. Oh, and I didn't even have to buy a dress! I borrowed this fantastic blue number from Lisa, the hottie on the far right in this last picture. Congratulations Lindsay and Gabe!

Rehearsal Dinner

Last night was Daniel & Cindy's rehearsal dinner - they decided to do it two days before the wedding which was a genius idea. What a fun time! They gave the wedding party hand made gifts - beautiful necklaces for the bridesmaids and cuff links for the guys. Brett is pretty excited to wear his links in the wedding tomorrow.

My dad held the dinner at Teske's, which I highly recommend if you are anywhere near the San Jose area and are having a party or just want a great dinner. Their authentic German food is amazing, and of course, so is their beer. They were super helpful in putting everything together and even printed out personalized menus for each seat. The atmosphere is AWESOME - we were set up outside on the garden patio, complete with fountain.

We had such a great time with family and getting to know all our soon-to-be new extended family members.

Tomorrow's the big day - and I'll finally have a sister! Hooray!!!

And the cake... takes the cake.

This weekend my friend Deborah and I hosted a bridal shower for our friend Rebecca at my mother-in-law's house. It was a small shower - only 9 people- but it was so much fun! I don't know if you've ever been to a small bridal shower (I hadn't), but I found it to be really relaxing and intimate. And something about the familiar atmosphere made everyone go ALL OUT on the games we had planned - everyone was so crazy and competitive! It was a blast to see some of our "older" friends act like the teenagers they feel like inside.

Look at this cake Deborah had made - it is from Flower Flour in Willow Glen and was so gorgeous I had to take about 20 pictures of it. That is real white chocolate, not frosting, on the outside. ( !!! ) I think we may have talked more about this cake than we did about Rebecca's wedding plans.
