Tiny Little Bunting

Last night I sat to down with the need for some instant crafting gratification - I needed to start and finish something before bed time. I came up with these. They might look familiar - I made some of these banners for the boys' room a while back. These are the Christmas version. Until a few years ago I wasn't into decorating for Christmas - it felt more like a hassle than anything else. I mean, red and green? Does that mean I have to change out all my throw pillows and hide the orange quilt until New Year's? I always ended up stressed out. More recently I've been seeing holiday decorations that work for me - simple, modern, small things that add a tiny twinkle of festivity to a home that is already settled. That's how I like to think of this bunting - it is little and easy to hang, and won't be too obtrusive wherever it's hung. I'm keeping some for myself and putting more in the shop. I hope you like them!

Waiting for the sun

These coasters (now finished) are waiting for a sunny day to be photographed and put in the shop, along with some other fun stuff. I have the start-of-a-new-year motivation to sew my head off, and this gift I received for Christmas should help:

It's the Accuquilt Go Baby fabric cutter - the "baby" version of their larger model and is perfect for my tiny house, even tinier work space, and the little quilts I make! I am SO excited about this - now I can make all kinds of quilts that I've been overwhelmed by due to the extensive cutting involved. Once my cutting mats arrive in the mail I will give it a try and let you know how it works. Happy New Year everybody!

Polka Dots and Swirls

I just listed this play mat in the shop. In fact, that's about all I got done today. We enjoyed a fabulous weekend at our friends' cabin in Twain Harte and got home late last night. Luckily, Moses let us sleep in this morning, which got the day off to a nice, non-productive start. I should have finished sewing a blanket for the shop, done about 3 loads of laundry, and vacuumed the house, but I didn't. I did, however, build an awesome tower out of blocks this afternoon... that counts for something, right? :)

Happy Anniversary!

Yesterday Brett and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary. We had a really nice time going to a "fancy" restaurant, browsing around Santana Row, and then finishing the evening off with a stop by our favorite candy shop. It's pretty crazy to realize how young we were when we got married - 19 & 22! But getting married to Brett never felt like a crazy decision, and it's been one of the best decisions of my life.

SO... to celebrate a little bit more, I'm having a short sale in the shop for my blog readers. Just type "8 years" in the "notes to seller" section of check-out, and you will get 15% off your purchase of anything in the shop. (Don't pay until I send you a revised invoice!) Sale ends at midnight tomorrow (Thurs. the 17th). Have fun!

Modern Summer

I listed this little patchwork security blanket in the shop the other day. I seriously think turquoise and orange is my new favorite color combination. Plus I'm super excited about how the pictures of this turned out - I finally started taking photos outside, and the colors come out much truer.
And special thanks to Jodi over at Every Day Beautiful for featuring my security blankets! Check out her shop - it is where I bought the fabric for this blanket and lots of the others. You'll definitely find it hard to leave without buying something!

Almost Finished...

Just a few more stitches on these two and they will be in the shop.

Junie None Designs: Expanding!

... Well, not the business. The designer is expanding (that's me). I'm so excited to finally be able to share our news: I'm pregnant! It's been a LONG 14 weeks, since I get extremely sick (we're talking major throwing up if I even move) for the first 3 months of pregnancy. So that's the REAL reason this blog and my etsy shop have been so neglected. But I'm feeling much better and each day am able to reclaim a little bit of my life. I'm excited to get back to sewing, excited to be able to post some fun pregnancy-related posts here on the blog... heck, I'm even excited to clean my house! It's amazing what 3 months of being an invalid can do for one's perspective.

I do have to give a huge shout-out (did I actually just use that phrase?) to my husband, who has been an absolute SAINT while I was sick. Every morning he got up early with the little guy and let me sleep in as late as I wanted. He went to work late, took Moses to work with him many days, and came home early. He did the grocery shopping, made all the meals, did the dishes, and even vacuumed and dusted the entire house (all this while running his landscaping business). He never hesitated to make a late-night trip to the grocery store to find me the ONE THING I could eat and made me toast at all hours of the day. Best of all, he did it all without even one sigh of frustration or accusing look in my direction as I sat suffering on the couch. He was WONDERFUL - much better that I would have been in his position. What a stud. Thanks Brett!

No Scrap Left Behind

I love finding little projects that use up some of the many fabric scraps I have stashed away. This week I've been making these patchwork bibs, which are just the right size to use up a nice sized pile of fabric and batting scraps I've been holding onto for a long time. Attaching the bias trim was hard at first, but after tearing out a lot of stitches and throwing away a few bibs that were beyond repair, I figured it out. These will be in the shop soon (I finally have all my photo editing software on the new computer - thanks Daniel!) so keep your eyes peeled.

New in the Shop (*gasp*)

I know, I know. It's been a LONG time since I listed anything new in the shop. I have my reasons, which will have to remain a mystery for now. But these gift tags went up yesterday and I think they're so cute! I'm such a sucker for cupcakes. :)

Peaches and Cream ... and a Girdle

Here's the latest security blanket I've listed in the shop. Over the last few weeks I've sold a lot of security blankets, so I decided it's time to restock. But between doctor's appointments and Valentine's Day and play dates, this is the only one I got finished this week. More should be coming to the shop next week.

In other news, I finally broke down and bought a girdle. To all of my friends who read this and have not yet had babies: a girdle is a terrible yet wonderful invention that puts everything back in place that isn't there anymore after having a baby. I've spent the last two years doing every variation of the sit-up that fitness magazines have ever published and have finally been forced to admit defeat. That extra "stuff" doesn't seem to have anywhere to go and just doesn't want to morph back into muscle. SO, given the fact that we have a "black-tie optional" wedding to attend tonight, and the fact that I don't feel like spending 4 hours "sucking-it-in," I bought a girdle, and I LOVE IT!!! It's like having my old body back, minus the ability to take deep breaths. But I can forego being fully oxegynated for a few hours if it means not looking several months pregnant in my nice new dress. Happy Friday everyone!
