Thanks Design Mom!

You GUYS! Today Gabrielle over at Design Mom posted my birth story and I couldn't be more thrilled. I read her blog every day and am so inspired by her aesthetic and practical ways of involving kids in creating and helping design their own spaces. If you are here for the first time, welcome! And thank you so very much for all your kind comments on the Design Mom post as well as here. It is a wonderful thing to put a vulnerable part of yourself out for the world to see and have it received in such a nurturing manner. You are all fantastic! Thanks Gabrielle!

Thank you so much for your story on Design Mom. I lost my own mother almost 5 years ago before I even had my own kids and not a day goes by that I don't miss her! It's hard to explain to people who still have their mother around the kind of void that is left. But I'm so grateful for what she taught me and for the two little ones that I get to be a mom to!

What a beautiful story, Heather! I had forgotten you had lost your mom WHILE pregnant with Moses. I'm so sorry. I would have felt so lost, too, without my mom to guide me during those first days/months/years.

You're a terrific mom!

Irbodine, yes, you are so right! The feeling is something we wouldn't wish on anyone, but it is nice when someone else really understands what it is to lose a mom. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind comment.

I just wanted to say I read your story on Design Mom. I lost my Mum 5 years ago when my boys were in their early/mid teens... reading your story reminded me how blessed I was to have her around during the early years. Although I can totally relate to you wanting to ask her this or that :) I'm sure I will miss her until the day comes when I see her again.
Beautiful story, beautiful writing.

Hi Lagata and thanks for your kind comment. Yes, I can imagine that mothering teenagers brings a whole bushel of questions! I'm so sorry to hear about your mom - such a hard thing. Thanks for stopping by.

Ok, so now my honey green tea is also seasoned with tears. I had heard your story second hand years ago but it was even more powerful reading your own words. I found my own healing of losing my mother in being a mother. I know you have too. God is good.

Sorry for ruining you tea Mary. I thought of you when writing my story knowing that you have had to deal with similar things. Yes, God is very very good to us and I'm so grateful for how he has worked healing in me through my boys.

OK, I've read most of the pregnancy & birth stories on Design Mom and this is the first time I've clicked through to the author's site to leave a comment. Thanks so much for writing this, and so beautifully. Such a moving story.
