Retail Therapy

Today my husband came home with this little white box. If you are familiar with this little white box, you know there wasn't a 6 pack of beer in here. My husband, who goes to the mall once per year, under duress, to buy Christmas gifts and buys clothes for himself only when his work shirts are "pitted out" bought me an entire outfit from my very favorite store. Just for the heck of it. And it even fits! The man knows how to make a girl feel special. :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! Are you doing something special today? Is somebody doing something special for you? I have a few little plans for the 3 men in my life, nothing fancy and certainly nothing girly. *sigh* But I'm not going to let the lack of estrogen around here stop me from having a frilly pink Valentine's Day! I painted my fingernails last night, and today I'm sharing a few of my favorite Valentine's Day inspired finds with you. I'm not usually a huge fan of pink, but I've fallen in love with this vintage tea set. So simple and frilly.

Continuing the tea theme, I love this photo by Elle Moss - makes me think of all things girly. You can purchase one for yourself here. (Psst - she's having a 40% off sale on prints through Valentine's Day - that's something to love!)

This tiny cake stand is just too cute - wouldn't it make your Valentine feel special?

Speaking of cake, isn't this the cutest idea ever? I'm definitely going to put bunting on the next cake I make.
And of course I can't let you go without mentioning my lavender sachets - the perfect little way to spoil yourself or a friend. I have tons of these in my "unmentionables" drawer and it makes me feel pampered every time I see them.

Good Things from my Favorites

I don't have anything earth shattering to blog about today, but here are a few good links for you:

1. Great post on how to get your child to read from Scribbit.

2. Wonderful idea from Design Mom - and it's never too early to start thinking about Christmas, right?

3. IceKubi - my new favorite shop to browse through as I think about redecorating my house. I'm trying to decide which one to buy!

4. If you're looking for a quick fun sewing project, try these. On my "some day" list of things to do.

Tomorrow we're off to Twain Harte for some good old fashioned fun in the snow. Hopefully I'll have lots of pictures to share with you!

P.S. The picture is of the latest addition to my shop - a security blanket made from the sweetest vintage fabric! Little girls have all the luck...

Currently Drooling Over:

These spats by Ashes and Empires are some of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. I can't wait until I can walk in heels again ... I'm totally going to get some of these.

Pretty Things

Well, the new computer is up and running, but I have NO idea how to work a Mac, so I apologize ahead of time if this post is a bit weird. We bought a Mac mini (when you live in a small house, anything with the word "mini" in it sounds appealing) and I am quickly realizing it is NOTHING like a PC. How in the heck do I highlight text? And why does everything on the screen have a purple tinge to it? Hmm... anyways, since I still have no photo editing software on here, I decided to post some pics of pretty things I've recently found on etsy. This beautiful "ranunculus" photo is by dsbrennan - SO perfect for spring! She has lots of other beautiful photographs in her shop.

And I am totally loving this clutch by rikrak - it's made from recycled vintage fabric, as are most of the items in her creative and colorful shop.

I've been eyeing this sweatshirt from Rose LaBiche for a while. Such a pretty take on the typical hoodie, don't you think?

And that's my virtual shopping for today. It's probably a good thing I can't get this computer to work or I may have just emptied my paypal account after looking through all my etsy favorites. Have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Thanks, On The Dot!

Today this mini security blanket of mine is featured in Julie's fantastic blog about all things dotty: On The Dot Creations. Go check it out - she features 3-5 polka-dot items each day and every single thing she reviews is completely adorable. I love seeing what she picks each day, and my etsy wish list is getting longer and longer!

Friday Find

It's been a while since I posted any etsy finds here, but last night I came across this fabulous hand-knit shawl at one of my favorite shops, Tickled Pink Knits. Isn't this gorgeous?!?!? There are 6 different colors you can choose from when ordering and you only have to wait 21-30 days for it to be made and shipped - that is some seriously fast knitting when making something as intricate as this! I'm totally saving my pennies for one of these.

I'm so Excited!

Look what I just bought from Fields of Honey - aren't these the coolest earrings?!?! They'll look perfect with my new $6 heels (that's right, I bought a pair of heels for $6.). Now I just need an occasion to wear them (the heels, that is. I'm sure I'll be wearing the earrings all the time). Check out her shop for lots more cool earrings!

Friday Find - Loops Designs

I am SO excited about this featured etsyian - today I present to you the shop that made me a jewelry person: Loops Designs. I was always the girl who wore the same little hoops every day until I happened upon Sarah Dibble's shop, and now I'm buying earrings like crazy. Everything in her shop is totally unique, gorgeous, and well-made. I also love her jewelry because it can be worn with just about everything and is SO comfortable (She also has a line of wedding and formal jewelry over at Twizzle Designs.).

These are the earrings I wear almost every day - the Serpent silver earrings - so cool!

And check these out - they can be worn with or without the stone on them, so it is like getting two pair in one. I've bought these for several of my friends and they all love them.

And there are TONS more choices at Loops Designs, not to mention necklaces, gold, copper, and even large gauge earrings. Check it out and have fun!

Friday Find: Jek in the Box

Well, I can't possibly hope to do this every Friday, but I'm hoping to bring you a bit of etsy goodness every other Friday. Today we're looking at Jek in the Box, a fabulous and colorful store that I stumbled across the other day while searching for "sachets". Look at these "buggy sachets!" They are filled with either lavender or cocoa husks (yum!) and each one has a picture of a moth on the back. I love all the fun fabrics she's used to put these together.

Then there are these Fruity Fun Pillows - you can get them in color or black and white. Each one is also filled with yummy smelly stuff and comes with a ribbon attached for hanging.

And I can't resist showing you this "Pop Memory" game. Did you ever play this matching game when you were little? Well, here we have a hand-made (yay!) version where you match the fabric patterns. Such a great game for the future crafter in your life.
There are lots more fun things at Jek in the Box, so scoot on over there and check it out! The colorful pictures and witty item descriptions are, in themselves, a wonderful reason to pay this little shop a visit. Happy Friday!
